Live Podcast Screening in Washington, DC
This past September I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Adoption: The Making Of Me Live Podcast event in Washington, DC, and it was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was the first time I screened my film to a full room of adoptees and the energy in that space was nothing short of profound.

A Room Full of Understanding
There’s something powerful about being surrounded by people who just get it. No need to explain, no need to translate the adoptee experience, because everyone in the room already knows it at a soul level. The conversations, the emotions and the unspoken understanding made the night unforgettable.

The Film and Q&A
After the screening we held a Q&A session where the film’s message truly landed. So many in attendance shared how deeply it resonated with their own adoption journeys. It reminded me why I created this film in the first place − as an offering to our community and a mirror for our shared experiences.
A Special Introduction
My fellow adoptee and friend Christy Gilvear from the Potawatomi Nation opened the evening with a beautiful introduction. She described the film as an “offering” to our community. Her kindness, insight and grace set the tone for an evening filled with connection and reflection.
Looking Ahead
The impact of this event has already led to another exciting opportunity: I’ve been invited to participate in an upcoming Adoption: The Making Of Me event in Dallas (details coming soon). These gatherings continue to remind me of the strength and beauty of the adoptee community, how we lift each other up and find belonging together.
